The primary duties of this Mechanical Engineering Manager position are to manage a team of engineers in product development activities to achieve the strategic objectives of the company. The individual should have strong technical experience and the desire to grow in a leadership role. This is a great opportunity for an individual seeking to transition into leadership.
Responsibilities will include managing and mentoring a team of engineers through the development of a commercial product. Understanding strategic goals and achieving them as part of a team through communication, delegation, and technical insight.
The right person for this position will have the technical skills to be able to proactively identify and resolve risks/challenges. They will have the communication skills to effectively communicate up to company leaders and create alignment across departments.

Core Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of engineers in a small company to achieve success while taking on a broad range of responsibilities
- Oversee development of Technical Designs in keeping with system requirements and business goals in collaboration with Chemistry, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing teams
- Proactively manage milestones and deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks to achieve strategic goals
- Manage delivery of a commercial product from conception through verification and assembly
- Oversee reporting and presentations of critical technical deliverables
- Manage assigned deliverables and priorities of projects to achieve project milestones and business objectives
- Supervise and provide technical leadership in all aspects of mechanical related product research and development, including but not limited to mechanical design, wearable device design, applicator design, and packaging design
- Lead, coach, and train less experienced engineers in engineering/commercialization, communication across the company, and teamwork
- Engage in and help drive conceptual idea generation and intellectual property development
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering and/or related disciplines
- 5+ years’ experience in industry
- CAD proficiency required; SolidWorks proficiency preferred
- Leadership experience during technical activities required
- Ability to communicate complexity in a simple and straightforward way
- Medical device experience preferred
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and capabilities
- Ability to lead and train less experienced engineers in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of ISO13485/FDA 21 CFR Part 820 Quality Systems, and FDA requirements is highly desired, but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in commercialization of advanced technology preferred
- Small-part, high-volume product design experience with high proficiency in Design for Manufacturability preferred
- 5+ years of design and development of CGM products or diabetes treatment-related products
- Knowledge of ISO13485/FDA 21 CFR Part 820 Quality Systems, and FDA requirements is highly desired, but not required
Job Type: Full-time, on-site
Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 annually
Travel: 5-15% travel required
