The Lead Manufacturing Technician oversees the day-to-day operations and coordination of the manufacturing shift or production line. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant production of high-quality medical devices by organizing and leading a team of technicians and enforcing strict regulatory and quality standards.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production and quality assurance
Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure manufacturing schedules and deadlines are met. Will also be called upon to perform certain daily production activities in support of manufacturing goals.
Operate, set up, and maintain specialized manufacturing equipment, including corrective and preventive maintenance.
Enforce and perform quality control procedures, including inspections and tests, to ensure all products meet internal and external quality standards.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of production processes, quality checks, and equipment maintenance in compliance with cGMP.
Monitor daily housekeeping and 5S activities to maintain a clean and organized work area, particularly within a cleanroom environment.
Leadership and training
Lead, mentor, and coach manufacturing technicians to develop their skills and improve team performance.
Conduct on-the-job training for new hires and provide ongoing training for existing staff on safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
Provide guidance to the team, acting as a leader in the absence of direct supervision.
Promote a positive and productive work environment by fostering effective communication and collaboration within the team.
Regulatory compliance
Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including Quality System Regulation (QSR). Familiarity with ISO standards, etc. a plus.
Contribute to the revision and creation of manufacturing procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other technical documents.
Process improvement
Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and other cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Support validation processes for new or existing equipment and manufacturing processes
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree or applicable technical certification preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or lead technician role.
Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other FDA-regulated industry is strongly preferred.
Technical skills
Demonstrated understanding of cGMP. Familiarity with FDA, ISO, and other relevant regulatory guidelines is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using precision measurement devices and gauges.
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
Soft skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and lead a team.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train others effectively.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment, including cleanroom attire, protective eyewear, and gloves.
Ability to lift and move up to [e.g., 25 pounds] on occasion.
Travel: Up to 10% travel may be required
Job Type: Full-time, hourly
Salary Range: $29-$41 per hour, commensurate with experience.
